Keep Safe!
Have you ever seen this cat?
Wearing a safety helmet and saying “Alright!”.
Over the past few years, this cat has become very popular over the Internet (Twitter and other social media) in Japan. He is usually called ‘work cat’ or 'on-site cat' (not sure which is official). Because the character is catchy and has the image of everyday working situation, Japan Industrial Safety and Health Association started collaborating with the cat and creating posters for alerting people to work accidents. (It seems that there is a more complicated story but this is the rough outline of how it happened.)
A few days ago, the new poster and the banner-flag, alerting heatstroke, arrived.
Heatstroke is Looming!
- Hangover
- Skipping a meal
- Staying up late at night
- Overconfidence, 'I'm used to the heat, so I'll be fine!'
Call for an ambulance if the person is unconscious or not able to take fluid by themselves.
Maintain good health. Keep hydrated and take some salt.
What a magnificent poster...
We have a soft toy version of work cats in the office, too.
He is always on the lookout for our safety.
